In the United States, Tom Brown uses his retirement to save, list and preserve apples. He has already saved over 1,000 varieties.

Based in North Carolina in the United States, Tom Brown found meaning in his retirement. Since 1999, he has researched and preserved Appalachian apples. Today he has over 1,200 varieties of apples in his possession. It is in his orchard, “Heritage Apples”, that he proudly exhibits 700 varieties of rare apples. Discovery.

Time passes, the orchards are razed and the memories of yesteryear wither away. This is the observation made by Tom Brown 22 years ago. At that time, to compensate for the gradual disappearance of heritage apples from his region, he decided to look for them all. He therefore wishes to conserve them and preserve them from oblivion or extinction. His crazy adventure has allowed him to bring out of the shadows certain names, completely unknown to new generations.

Today, Tom Brown donates and sells his apple trees so that they can return to their regions of origin and their lineage continues. On his website , he even offers tips for recognizing different apples as well as recipes. Far beyond a passion, his activity is of public utility because, without his research, many varieties of apples would have already fallen into oblivion.

We can only congratulate Tom Brown on his quest to perpetuate a culinary and agricultural heritage. One thing is certain, he is not about to stop his passion!
